DOYLESTOWN, Pa. (October 28, 2016) - The FDU-Florham football was topped by Delaware Valley 50-21 Friday night,
The Devils dropped to 2-6 overall, 2-5 in the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom, while Del Val improved to 6-2, 5-2 in the MAC Freedom.
The Aggies started off taking the opening kick 62 yards, setting up a short field. Five plays later, Dashawn Darden scored on a run from four yards out to put the hosts on top. After FDU went three and out on their second possession, Del Val blocked a punt and ran it back 13 yards and converted the two point conversion for 15-0 edge.
The Aggies tacked two more touchdowns before the Devils were able to break through. Quarterback
Joey McCain anchored a 13 play, 72 yard drive which was capped off by a one-yard scoring run by sophomore
Robert Young, which was the halftime score.
FDU started with the ball to open the third quarter, but a fumble handed the ball back to Del Val. 11 plays later, Darden hit Marquis Ellis for a six yard passing score. Young added his second score of the evening with a two yard run to get within 36-14, but Aggies proved to be too much.
The hosts added a pair of early fourth quarter touchdowns, but Young tallied his third short-yardage TD of the night this time from three yards out to cap off the scoring for the night.
McCain finished 28-of-50 for 279 yards, while
Michael Panzarino hauled in 12 catches for 191 yards. Young notched 40 yards on 17 carries, while
Isaiah Turner and
Trey Smith each finished with seven tackles.
The Devils close out the home schedule Saturday with a 1 p.m. contest against Lebanon Valley.
