ANNVILLE, N.J. -- The FDU-Florham volleyball team split the Middle Atlantic Conference Crossover Tournament, defeating Widener University, 3-2, and falling to Lebanon Valley College, 2-3, on Saturday, Oct. 1.
Sophomore outside hitter
Lauren Harris had a commanding day totalling 36 kills, 58 digs, four aces and 12 blocks in the two matches.
FDU-Florham 3, Widener 2 (22-25, 25-21, 28-26, 25-27, 15-12):
Despite losing the first set, the Devils moved on to win two-straight close sets to get ahead of Widener. But the Pride rallied to inch out a 27-25 score to even things up until FDU-Florham claimed the victory with a 15-12 win in the fifth set.Â
Harris led the attack with 21 kills, junior
Melissa Gaffney had 11 while sophomore
Kate Quinlan contributed eight.

Courtney Conte made 46 assists in the effort while
Nikole Meluso and Harris had 37 digs each and Gaffney recorded 30 in the triumph.
FDU-Florham 2, Lebanon Valley College 3 (20-25, 19-25, 29-27, 25-21, 4-15):
LVC was able to grab a 2-0 lead on the Devils before FDU-Florham came back with two-straight wins to force a fifth set. Still the Flying Dutchman were able to close things out with a 15-4 win the final set to earn the 3-2 win.
Harris led the team in three categories with 15 kills, three aces and four blocks. Gaffney made 13 kills and Conte nabbed 34 assists.
On the defensive end, Catena had 40 digs while Harris made 21 and Conte recorded 16.
The Devils return to conference action on Tuesday, Oct. 4 at 7 p.m. against Delaware Valley University in Doylestown, Pa.
