MADISON, N.J. -- The FDU-Florham field hockey team won their fourth straight game over Middle Atlantic Conference foe DeSales University, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon at Robert T. Shields Field.
Senior defender
Erin O'Connell was played a key role in the Devils' success, contributing a the game-winning goal and an assist.Â
FDU-Florham is now 9-5 and 3-1 in the MAC Freedom.
The Devils attack dominated the field throughout, enjoying a 14-3 shots-on-goal advantage.
O'Connell blasted the game-winner into the net at 22:36 on a feed from sophomore defender
Makayla Pak from the right side to put FDU-Florham up, 1-0, at the half.
Sophomore midfielder
Brooke Sherwin waited just five minutes into the second half to drill a goal of her own into the Eagles net off a pass from O'Connell.
Then, just one minute later, senior midfielder
Noelle Shirey notched a tally from junior forward
Gabby Allen to widen the Devils' lead, 3-0.
The Eagles' defense put up a strong fight as goalie Katarina Polyviou grabbed nine saves and Autumn Klucsarits made two defensive saves in the loss.
In net for the Devils, sophomore goalie
Samantha Rubin came up with three big saves in the second half to earn the shutout.
Up next, FDU-Florham travels down the road to take on Drew University on Monday, Oct. 17 at 4:30 p.m.
