YORK, Pa. – The FDU-Florham volleyball team had a successful weekend as they came out of the York College Tournament with three big wins over York College of Pennsylvania, Alvernia University and Albright College to improve to 14-3 on the season.
vs. York College of Pennsylvania
The Devils extended their winning streak to 11 games after they defeated the host team, York College of Pennsylvania 3-2 (23-25, 25-10, 22-25, 25-10, 15-4) on Friday afternoon.
FDU-Florham fell behind 2-1 after the first three sets but managed to win the fourth set and force a fifth, where they ultimately came out on top.
Leading the attack for the Devils was freshmen Kristi Wong and Lauren Harris. Wong recorded a triple-double in the contest with 10 kills, 14 assists and 10 digs, while Harris tallied a double-double with 12 kills and 10 digs.
Sophomore Codi Inloes-Williams did her part in setting up the Devils' strikers as she had a team-high 19 assists against York.
Alex Mueller also pieced together an impressive outing, picking up 24 digs. Mueller recorded double digit digs in each of the four matches in the tournament.
vs. La Roche College
The FDU-Florham volleyball team's 11_game winning streak was snapped when they fell to the La Roche College Red Hawks 3-1 (24-26, 18-25, 25-22, 17-25) on Friday night.
The Devils found themselves down after the first three sets 2-1 and were unable to bounce back to force a fifth set.
Inloes-Williams and Wong distributed the ball efficiently, combining for 26 assists in the game. Harris was the team's leading attacker with a team-high 14 kills.
However, the Devils had some trouble on offense as they totaled 25 attack errors in the game, which ultimately cost them.
vs. Alvernia University
After having their impressive winning streak snapped on the previous night, the FDU-Florham volleyball team came out and swept the Alvernia University Crusaders 3-0 (25-18, 25-19, 25-19) on day two of the tournament.
Wong finished just shy of her second triple-double of the weekend with nine kills, 12 assists and nine digs. Her twelve assists combined with 13 from Inloes-Williams helped the Devils pick apart the Knights. Harris added eight kills for FDU-Florham.
vs. Albright College
The FDU-Florham volleyball team closed out the York Tournament with a 3-1 (25-11, 20-25, 25-20, 25-20) victory over the Albright College Lions.
The Lions knotted up the contest after taking the second set, but the Devils went on to grab the final two sets to pick up their third victory of the weekend.
Harris was in attack mode from the start of the game and ultimately finished with 16 kills and 11 digs for her second double-double in the tournament.
The Devils had 10 different players record a kill in the win over the Lions. Inloes-Williams and Wong proved to be quite the duo on the offensive end as they continued their success by putting up some impressive assist totals. Inloes-Williams had a team-high 21 assists in the game while Wong finished with 18.
Freshman Sarah Hof showcased her all-around ability by tallying six kills, three digs and picking up a career-high three solo blocks.
FDU-Florham will be back in action against King's College for the MAC Freedom home opener on Wednesday, September 30 at 7 p.m. at the Ferguson Recreation Center.
