WILKES-BARRE, PA – The FDU-Florham volleyball team claimed their 10th consecutive victory after they swept the Wilkes University Colonels 3-0 (25-16, 25-12, 28-26) on Tuesday night in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
The Devils (11-2, 2-0 MAC Freedom) have now swept their opponents in six of their last seven contests.
FDU-Florham totaled 44 kills on the night and sophomore Melissa Gaffney accounted for 14 of them. Sophomore Codi Inloes-Williams and reigning conference player of the week, Kristi Wong, played brilliantly as they efficiently set up their teammates to attack the Colonels (7-7, 0-2 MAC Freedom).
Inloes-Williams tallied 15 assists while Wong recorded a double-double with 20 assists and 10 digs. Junior Alex Mueller also contributed heavily with 18 digs in the game.
FDU-Florham managed to control the first two sets, but in the third, the Colonels kept it close and forced the Devils to take a late timeout. Out of the timeout, the Devils grabbed a hold of the lead and went on to seal the 3-0 victory.
The Devils will travel to York, Pa. on Friday, September 25, to take part in the York Tournament. Their opening match will be against host school, York College of Pennsylvania at 4 p.m. followed by a 6 p.m. start against La Roche College.
