Men's Soccer Falls in Gary Smith Finale

PATCHOGUE, N.Y. – The FDU-Florham men's soccer team dropped the finale of the Gary Smith Invitational at St. Joseph's College (LI) 2-0 to Randolph-Macon College on Sunday afternoon.

Following the two-day invitational, FDU-Florham junior midfielder AJ Carnevale was tabbed to the All-Tournament Team.

The Devils (1-3) surrendered a score almost immediately when the Yellow Jackets' Andrew Schaefer fired a shot off of the opening kick and netted a long-distance goal just seven seconds into action.

Mitchell Surkamp added Randolph-Macon's second score in the 39th minute off of a feed from teammate Bryan Lutz.

Carnevale registered two of the team's four on-goal shots as the Devils were outshot 15-9 in the contest. FDU-Florham goalkeeper Frank Maggiore Jr. made four stops in the loss, while Brian Breslin also made four stops for Randolph-Macon (3-2) and joined Carnevale on the All-Tournament Team.

The Devils return to action this Wednesday, September 16 when they host The College of New Jersey at 3:30 p.m.
