Volleyball Caps Sweep of North Jersey Challenge with Two Saturday Wins

MADISON, N.J. – The FDU-Florham volleyball team completed a perfect weekend as host of the North Jersey Challenge by sweeping Gordon College and College of New Rochelle in straight sets on Saturday at the Ferguson Recreation Center.

The Devils (7-2) conquered Gordon College 25-20, 25-23, 25-18 before taking down New Rochelle 25-7, 25-15, 25-15.

In the first match, the Devils featured a balanced attack and received 11 kills from Melissa Gaffney and eight kills apiece from freshman Kate Quinlan and Kristi Wong. Quinlan's eight putaways are a career for the first-year middle hitter.

Wong, who has exploded onto the scene in her first season in Madison, added 16 assists and five digs to her ledger, while Codi Inloes-Williams led the Devils with 18 assists, seven digs and four service aces.

The Devils continued their winning ways against New Rochelle and jumped out to a 14-1 lead in the first set.  Inloes-Williams and freshman Lauren Harris served up the big league, which set the tone for the rest of the match.

For the second time this weekend, Harris totaled four service aces. Ten different Devils registered at least one kill in the three-set win, led by Quinlan and Natalie Knudsen's seven kills apiece.

FDU-Florham opens MAC Freedom play in their next contest when they host Manhattanville College this Wednesday, September 16 at 7 p.m.
