Edwardsville, Pa. – In a Freedom Conference Tournament semifinal matchup between the FDU-Florham women's tennis team and Wilkes University on Wednesday afternoon, the Colonels managed to blank the Devils 5-0 in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
In doubles play, Serina Grande (Pompton Lakes, N.J.) and Jill Duke (Secaucus, N.J.) were the first to fall for the Devils as they were defeated 8-1 by Kendra Croker and Madison Salmon of Wilkes. Following the first match loss by the Devils, Remy Astorino (Fairfield, N.J.) and Kim Martin (North Brunswick, N.J.) were defeated 8-2 in their match.
Nu-Kermeni Kermah (Trenton, N.J.) and Amelia Vetto (Portland, OR) put up a strong fight in their doubles match, but were ultimately taken down 8-5 by Taylor Hoffmann and Ana English.
As the Devils moved on to singles play, the Colonels still had their number as Duke was defeated 6-0, 6-0 by Salmon. Grande's match was the second to finish and she was downed 6-1, 6-0. The other four matches went unfinished as the Colonels claimed the 5-0 victory over the Devils.
