HAVERFORD, Pa. – The FDU-Florham men's lacrosse team was defeated by the Haverford Fords 13-6 Saturday afternoon in Haverford, Pa.
This was the third consecutive road contest for the Devils (0-3) and they were tested early by the Fords (2-2). Two minutes into the game, Haverford midfielder Richard Greenberg netted the first goal of the game. The Devils answered with goals from Daniel Minnich (Laurys Station, Pa.) and Connor May (Rochester, N.Y.) to take a 2-1 lead.
The Fords countered with another Greenberg goal before the end of the first quarter, tying the game up at 2-2. Greenberg finished the game with three goals for Haverford.
Trailing by a goal with just a few seconds left on the clock before the half, sophomore Dan Decker (East Setauket, N.Y.) received a pass from freshman attack David Stewart (Narbeth, Pa.) and sent the ball to the back of the net to make it a 4-4 game at the half.
In the second half, it was Harverford's freshman attack, Isaac Krier, who stole the show, scoring a game-high four goals in the contest. His first goal knotted the game up at 5-5 early in the third quarter and he added two more in the quarter to help the Fords take the lead.
Senior attack Frank Reda (Hauppauge, N.Y.) notched his second goal midway through the third quarter to help the Devils take a one goal lead. However, following the Reda goal, the Devils were held scoreless the rest of the way and the Fords went on to score eight unanswered goals to capture the 13-6 victory.
Sophomore midfielder Dalton Rimmer (Vernon, N.J.), who scored the Devils first goal in the second half picked up nine ground balls in the contest and won 13 face offs. Freshman goalie, Connor Evans (Ringwood, N.J.) had a tough day in goal for FDU-Florham but he picked up 12 saves.
FDU-Florham will have their home opener on Tuesday, March 10, when they welcome Western Connecticut State at 7 p.m.
