Women's Tennis Blanked by Rangers in Spring Opener

MADISON, N.J. -- The FDU-Florham women's tennis team suffered a 9-0 setback to cross-street rival Drew University in Sunday afternoon at the Simon Forum.

FDU-Florham freshman Nu-Kermeni Kermah (Trenton, N.J.) battled in first singles but fell in a third-set tiebreaker 1-6, 6-2, 0-1 (7-10) to Drew's Deanna Williams.

In fifth singles, Devils' sophomore Remy Astorino (Fairfield, N.J.) also rallied in her match after dropping the first set to claim the second set 6-4. Unfortunately, the second-year standout was unable to take down Rangers' Megan Jarvis and dropped the third-set tiebreaker 10-3.

The Rangers excelled in doubles competition sweeping first and third doubles 8-0 and coasting to an 8-1 victory in second doubles.

In their next outing, the Devils will head out on their annual Spring Break Trip, which begins on March 13.
