Five Devils Tally Double Figures in 102-47 Rout of Eagles

BRONX, N.Y. – The Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham women's basketball team led wire-to-wire as they coasted to a 102-47 victory over College of St. Elizabeth in the consolation game at the CUNY Coaches vs Cancer on Wednesday afternoon.

Alyssa McDonough led the rout with 22 points on 50 percent shooting, while handing out five assists and grabbing four rebounds. Five Devils (8-4) reached double figures as the team touched the century mark in scoring for the second time this season.

Sophomore guard Danielle Leguillou finished with 16 points on 7-of-12 shooting, grabbed four rebounds and dished out three assists and was named to the All-Tournament Team after the game.

The Devils scored the first 11 points of the contest and forced 10 turnovers en route to a 19-6 lead through one period of play. The Eagles (2-6) were unable to handle the persistent full court pressure, which resulted in several easy buckets for the Devils.

The second quarter began with another run for the Devils as they netted the first six points and stretched their lead to 25-6. Leguillou and Jhade Aird provided a spark off of the bench with the team's first nine points of the period.

St. Elizabeth finished 8-for-27 (29.6%) from the floor in the first half and turned the ball over 16 times, while FDU-Florham shot 41 percent protected the basketball with just seven miscues.  The Devils were aided by 20 bench points, 11 of which came from Leguillou, who knocked down four of her six shots, including two 3-pointers. The sophomore guard led all scorers, while first-year guard Raven Dowling chipped in 10 points as the Devils held a comfortable 41-19 cushion at the break.

With a commanding lead in hand, the Devils continued to roll and opened the second stanza with a 21-5 run before eventually stretching their advantage to as large as 58 points (96-38).

Joining McDonough and Leguillou in double figures were Shalette Brown with 18 points, Dowling with 13 and Aird with 12. Brown also grabbed seven rebounds and wreaked havoc on the defensive end with six steals. Aird's career-high 12 points came on an efficient 5-of-7 shooting.

Leguillou was joined on the All-Tournament Team by St. Elizabeth's guard Ashley Pledger, who led the Eagles with 16 points in the loss.

The Devils return home for their first contest of 2016, this Monday, January 4 at 5 p.m. against Stevenson University.
