EDWARDSVILLE, Pa. – The FDU-Florham men's soccer team scored four times in the second half in a 4-1 victory over Wilkes University at Schmidt Stadium on Saturday night.
The Devils (5-4-1, 1-0 MAC Freedom) erased a 1-0 halftime deficit to earn the win in their MAC Freedom opener.
Eddie Metzger gave the Colonels (2-8, 0-1 MAC Freedom) a 1-0 lead in the 13
th minute by finishing an assist from
Kyle Joyce.
That one-goal lead held up through halftime but in 5:28 into the second stanza FDU-Florham freshman striker
Jose Guardado buried the equalizer courtesy of a
Dylan Meyler feed.
In the 66
th minute, the Devils moved in front thanks to an unassisted goal by
Chaz Armand. The goal was the first of the year for Armand, who recently returned to the lineup after overcoming an early season injury.
Guardado struck again at the 72:27 mark before
Jay Bower put the finishing touches on the victory with a goal in the 85
th minute.
The Devils were in control for most of the contest and outshot the Colonels 15-6 on the night.
FDU-Florham hosts Rutgers-Newark in its next contest this Wednesday, October 7 at 7 p.m.
