Lively Breaks 3-point Record as Devils Roll at NYU Holiday Classic

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Senior guard Leigh-Ann Lively's (Bangor, Pa.) fourth 3-pointer of the night set the FDU-Florham all-time record for 3-point field goals, breaking Emily Cerankowski's previous mark of 153, and the No. 1-ranked Devils rolled to an 88-64 victory over William Smith College on Saturday night at the NYU Holiday Classic.

The Devils (11-0) registered the first points of the night on a 3-pointer by Lively and never relinquished the lead en route to a NYU Holiday Classic record 54 first-half points. Nine Devils scored in the opening stanza, led by Shalette Brown (Somerset, N.J.) and Kara Dayon (Trenton, N.J.), who netted nine points apiece and FDU-Florham held a 54-30 advantage at intermission.

Lively and Dayon each hit a pair of shots from behind the arc as the Devils drained seven 3-pointers in the first stanza. In total, the top-ranked team knocked down 11 shots from downtown, which tied the NYU Classic record.

The Devils remained in control throughout the second half as the Herons (1-6) struggled to break FDU-Florham's defensive pressure. Their swarming defense resulted in 29 turnovers by William Smith, which the Devils promptly converted into 29 points at the other end of the floor. At the forefront of that defensive effort was Brown, who finished with five steals to go along with 15 points and nine rebounds in the victory.

Sophomore guard Alyssa McDonough (Parlin, N.J.) led a balanced scoring attack with 17 points and seven assists, while Lively finished with 14 points on her record-breaking night.

For the Herons, Gabrielle Eure totaled a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds, which were both game-highs.

Next up for the Devils:
With tonight's win, the Devils have now won 44 straight games and will look to extend that streak tomorrow when they conclude the NYU Holiday Classic against Swarthmore College at 6 p.m.
