WILIAMSPORT, Pa. -- The FDU-Florham women's tennis team was unable to conquer the Lycoming College Warriors on Friday afternoon at Bruce Henry Park, ultimately falling 5-4.
The Devils (0-2) won the first three singles flights but were only able to earn one victory in doubles play. Freshmen
Nu-Kermeni Kermah (Trenton, N.J./Trenton Central) and
Serina Grande (Pompton Lakes, N.J./Lakeland) were victorious in singles and doubles play for the second-straight match. Kermah dropped the opening set 5-7 in first singles to
Shannon Sheridan but rallied to take the next two sets 6-3, 6-1 en route the the victory. Grande played an extended 7-5 first set before comfortably claiming the second set 6-2. The talented duo later paired up to earn an 8-5 win in first doubles for FDU-Florham
Junior
Tenzin Lama (Kearny, N.J./Kearny) earned a 6-0, 6-1 victory in third singles over Lycoming's
Abbey Smith. However, the Warriors (1-2) claimed the final three singles flights to draw even. Lycoming sealed the victory by cruising to 8-1 and 8-0 victories in the second and third doubles flights respectively.
Next up for the Devils:FDU-Florham will participate in the MAC Singles Championships, which begin on October 3rd in Kingston, Pa.
