Six Devils Reach Double-Figures as No. 1 FDU-Florham Rolls 97-61

UNION, N.J. --  Featuring a balanced scoring effort, the top-ranked FDU-Florham women's basketball team (3-0) cruised a 97-61 victory over Kean University (2-1) on Thursday night at Harwood Arena.

Sophomore Alyssa McDonough (Parlin, N.J.) and senior Delisha Thompson (East Orange, N.J.) each scored 19 points, which paced a Devils attack that included six double-digit scorers.

The Devils led this one from wire-to-wire to earn their 36th straight victory.

FDU-Florham leapt out to a 22-12 lead in the game's early stages to set the tone for the remainder of the contest.

Thompson knocked down all five of her first-half shot attempts en route to a team-high 13 points in the opening stanza. As a team, the Devils shot 51.4 percent from the floor in the first half and led 46-30 at the break.

In addition to their efficient offense, FDU-Florham caused 16 turnovers during the first 20 minutes of action and frustrated the Cougars' offense.

In the second the half, Kean cut the Devils' lead down to 11 at 51-40 with 15:19 to play in regulation, however, FDU-Florham proceeded to blow the game open and stretched their lead to as much as 39 points.

Senior guard Kara Dayon (Trenton, N.J.) drained all four of her shot attempts in the second half, including two from downtown en route to 14 second-half tallies. Dayon finished with 18 points, four rebounds, four assists and three steals, while only missing one shot on the night. Fellow senior Kyra Dayon (Trenton, N.J.) was tenacious on the defensive end, totaling five steals to go along with her 13 points and six assists in the game.

Also registering double-digit scoring outputs were junior Alicia Cox (Vineland, N.J.) with 13 points and freshman Danielle Leguillou (Staten Island, N.Y.) who added 10 points in the victory.

For Kean, Najha Treadwell finished with 21 points and 18 rebounds to notch a double-double in the loss.

After winning 30 of their 33 games last season by 10 or more points, the Devils have comfortably won all three games this year by double-digit margins.
