The first half was a battle of scoring-runs for both teams. The Devils opened the contest with a 15-3 run, thanks to aggressive work on the glass, but the Bearcats fought back with a 12-0 run of their own, tying the game at 15-15. Then, an 11-2 rally by FDU built the Devils lead to nine points with four minutes to play in the opening stanza. The Devils held a 29-25 lead at the break led by 11 first-half points from Dayon.
The Devils came out blazing in the second half and built a 16-point lead just five minutes into action. A pair of steals by
Kara Dayon (Trenton, N.J./Trenton Central) and
Rachel Groom (Edison, N.J./Edison) resulted in easy baskets and put FDU in the driver's seat. FDU continued to pressure the Bearcat ball-handlers throughout the remainder of the game, which led to the 25-point victory.
Groom hauled in four rebounds to go along with 11 points on 6-of-14 shooting. Junior forward
Delisha Thompson (East Orange, N.J./East Orange Campus) finished with eight points and seven boards for FDU in the victory.
Baruch sophomore forward
Malika Abdusalaam posted a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds on 6-of-9 shooting, while junior
Alicea Ulmer pulled down 12 boards and tallied eight points for the Bearcats in defeat.
