Devils Fall to Cross-Street Rival Drew 5-1

Box Score Madison, N.J.  -- In the battle for bragging rights on Madison Avenue, the FDU-Florham Devils men's soccer team (3-2) fell to the Drew University Rangers (4-1) on Wednesday night, by the score of  5-1, in front of a raucous crowd at Robert T. Shields Field.

Trailing 1-0 at the start of the second half, the Devils wasted no time evening the score as senior forward Ryan Hurdes blasted the tying goal past Ranger's goalkeeper Michael Reyes less than 30 seconds into play.

The Rangers would counter quickly, scoring the game's deciding goal just four minutes later when John Nogiewich fired home a cross from teammate Tommy Tolve, narrowly eluding FDU goalkeeper Nick Mihalik.

Drew would add on three more goals, all coming after the 60th minute, en route to the four-goal victory. The Devils are now winless in their last 30 contests against the Rangers, with their last win coming in 1981.

Hurdes' goal was his team-leading fifth of the season as he found the back of the net for the third straight game.

The Devils continue their four-game home stretch this Saturday, September 14th, when they take on Richard Stockton at 1 p.m.
