MADISON, NJ - The top-seeded College at Florham Devils will host second-seeded King's in the Championship Game of the Freedom Conference Tournament on Saturday, February 23, 2013, beginning at 1 pm. The Devils enter with a record of 23-3 while the Monarchs are 21-5.
Both squads are 12-2 in the Freedom Conference while the two teams split their regular season matchups, with each winning on their home floor. On December 1, in Madison, FDU beat King's by a score of 81-59 before the Monarchs got their revenge by beating the Devils in Wilkes-Barre by a margin of 66-45 on February 2.
FDU features the Freedom Conference Player of the Year in sophomore forward
Kyra Dayon (18.1 ppg, 7.6 rpg, 2.7 spg). The Devils also had three players named Honorable Mention All-Freedom Conference in sophomore forward
Delisha Thompson (9.0 ppg, 6.7 rpg), sophomore guard
Leigh-Ann Lively (12.7 ppg), and freshman center
Rachel Groom (10.2 ppg, 5.3 rpg). Head Coach
Marc Mitchell was named Freedom Conference Coach of the Year.
King's is led by senior guard
Katlin Michaels (15.5 ppg, 7.2 apg, 6.5 rpg), who was named First Team All-Freedom Conference. Senior guard
Celia Rader (13.8 ppg) was named to the Second Team while senior forward
Lindsay Atchison (10.4 ppg, 5.8 rpg) was named Honorable Mention.
