Delisha Thompson added 15 and 14 points, respectively, to lead the top-seeded College at Florham Devils to a 67-52 victory over fourth-seeded Eastern in the Semifinals of the Freedom Conference Tournament on Wednesday evening.
With the win, the Devils improved to 23-3 while the Eagles finished their season at 10-16. FDU will now go on to play second-seeded King's in the Freedom Conference Tournament Finals on Saturday afternoon. It is the second time in school history that FDU has reached the title tilt, with the first time coming during the 2007-08 season.
In a game where they led wire-to-wire, the Devils jumped out to an 11-5 lead before Eastern closed to 11-9 with 13:58 left in the first half. FDU then reeled off a 17-9 run over the next seven minutes to grab a 28-18 advantage as five different players scored in the run. The Devils still had their 10-point lead, 32-22, with 1:24 remaining but Eastern hit two free throws to get it to single digits, 32-24. Dayon was fouled with 0:01 to go in the half and made 1-of-2 free throws to give FDU a 33-24 edge heading into intermission.
The Devils put the pedal down to start the second stanza, as they came out hot and increased their lead to 50-36 with 11:05 left in the game. After the Eagles closed to 52-42 with 7:41 to play, FDU responded with a quick 9-2 run to take a 61-44 lead with 5:28 left. Eastern pulled to within 12, 62-50, with 2:03 remaining but Groom scored four of FDU's final five points to help secure the win and a trip to the tournament finals for FDU.

Jalessa Lewis recorded five points, seven assists and four rebounds while sophomore guard
Leigh-Ann Lively chipped in seven points. Sophomore guard
Kara Dayon came off the bench to tally six points and four assists.
The Devils return to action on Saturday, February 23, 2013, at home against second-seeded King's in the Championship Game of the Freedom Conference Tournament beginning at 1 pm.
