Box Score MADISON, NJ - The College at Florham Devils started the game with a 21-2 run and never looked back as the beat DeSales by a score of 76-57 in Freedom Conference action on Sunday afternoon. Sophomore forward
Kyra Dayon paced FDU with 19 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and four steals while junior guard
Jalessa Lewis added 19 points, seven steals, six rebounds and four assists.
With the win, the Devils improved to 21-2 (11-1 Freedom) while the Bulldogs dropped to 16-7 (8-4 Freedom). FDU only needs to win one of its two remaining games to secure the top spot in the upcoming Freedom Conference Tournament.
The route was on early as the Devils jumped out to a 21-2 lead thanks to eight points from Dayon and seven points from Lewis. DeSales cut their deficit to 31-14 with 4:47 left in the half but FDU closed the first stanza with an 11-6 run to grab a 42-20 lead at intermission.
DeSales tried to make a run early in the second half but every time they scored, the Devils would get the bucket right back. The Bulldogs did however close to 17 points, 57-40, with 8:51 to go but the Devils responded with an 11-6 run to take a 68-46 advantage with 4:17 to play. The Devils were then able to dribble the clock out while hitting the majority of their free throws to cruise to the 76-57 win.
Aside from Dayon and Lewis, freshman center
Rachel Groom finished with 17 points and five rebounds while sophomore guard
Leigh-Ann Lively chipped in 10 points.
The Devils return to action on Tuesday, February 12, 2013, at Eastern beginning at 6 pm.
