Box Score MADISON, N.J. – Led by
Shalette Brown's (Somerset, N.J./Franklin) fourth double-double of the season, the No. 17 FDU-Florham Devils women's basketball team improved to 7-0, after defeating DeSales University 84-49 on Wednesday night at Ferguson Recreation Center.
Brown finished the night with 12 points, 12 rebounds, six steals and two blocks as the Devils earned the victory in their first Freedom Conference game of the season. Junior forward
Kyra Dayon (Trenton, N.J./Trenton Central) added 17 points and six boards for the undefeated Devils.
Also scoring in double-figures for FDU were
Alyssa McDonough (Parlin, N.J./Sayreville) and
Rachel Groom (Edison, N.J./Edison) with 12 and 10 points respectively.
The Devils jumped out to a 10-0 lead and never looked back. Dayon's 11 first-half points propelled the Devils to a 42-16 advantage at the half. The aggressive FDU defense held the Bulldogs to just 7-of-23 shooting while forcing 12 turnovers in the opening stanza.
A 16-0 second-half run by the Devils put the game out of reach as FDU built a 35 point lead en route to the decisive victory.
Freshman Megan Baird led the way for DeSales with eight points as the Devils held the Bulldogs under 30 percent shooting in the contest.
