Box Score WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The FDU-Florham Devils men's soccer team left it all on the field in Saturday night's Freedom Conference final against King's College (11-4-5) but ultimately came up short in their quest for a championship falling 2-1.
The Devils (11-8-1) took a 1-0 lead 8:29 into play when
Tommy Asselta (Bethpage, N.Y./Bethpage) knocked in a loose ball from 10 yards out. The goal was the junior captain's fourth of the season.
FDU-Florham retained the lead into halftime thanks to a stellar defensive effort by the Devils backline.
With 36:24 remaining in regulation, Monarchs freshman forward Cameron Rhodes received a thru ball from teammate Andrew Tuminello and alluded Devil keeper
Nick Mihalik (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley) to even the score at one goal aside.
The Monarchs pressured the Devils throughout most of the second stanza and with 11:27 left to play, King's forward Brian Fenster netted the game-winner on a crossing pass from seven yards out.

Ryan Hurdes (Succasunna, N.J./Roxbury) nearly tied the game, but his shot sailed wide of the post and the
Monarchs were able to hold on for the win.
Mihalik played an outstanding match and totaled seven saves under duress. The Devils goalkeeper made several highlight saves in the loss.
The Devils were outshot 17-7 on the night including 7-1 in shots on target.
