Al Campora earned his 300
th career victory on Saturday as the Devils defeated Ramapo College 3-2 (25-22, 21-25, 25-12, 18-25, 16-14).
Also etching their name in the record books, was senior captain
Helena Riede (Haworth, N.J./Northern Valley Demarest). Riede broke the Devils single-season kills record by totaling 34 put-aways in the match, giving her a program-high 460 on the season. The previous single-season high was held by Megan Redd (404), which was attained in 2006.
The Devils opened the day by defeating host Ramapo College in five sets. Riede led the way for the Devils with 24 kills and 20 digs. Junior setter
Maggie Kaszuba (Manahawkin, N.J./Southern Regional) handed out 47 assists in the match.
FDU-Florham's second match of the day resulted in a straight-set defeat for the Devils, falling 3-0 (26-28, 20-25, 19-25) to the Mount Saint Mary Knights. Devils libero
Alex Mueller (Gainesville, Fla./Eastside) tallied 13 digs and one service ace in the loss.
Coach Campora took over the volleyball program here at FDU-Florham back in 1999 and picked up win number 100 in 2003.
The tri-match wraps up the 2013 Devils volleyball season. The team increased their win total from four in 2012 to 16 this year and will look to continue to develop in 2014 under coach Campora and assistant coach
Kevin Rodgers.
