Hurdes Hat Trick Leads Devils to Victory

Box Score MADISON, N.J. – Led by three goals from Ryan Hurdes (Succasunna, N.J./Roxbury), the FDU-Florham Devils men's soccer team (7-3-1, 1-0 MAC) was victorious in their Freedom Conference opener winning 3-2 Saturday afternoon against the King's College Monarchs (4-3-3, 0-1 MAC).

Hurdes has consistently found the back of the net in 2013 and that trend continued on Saturday.  Devils goalkeeper Nick Mihalik (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley) set up Hurdes' first strike with a long kick at the 26:27 mark, which provided FDU a 1-0 advantage.

The Monarchs got on the board 18:40 into the second half with a penalty kick, which evened the score at one aside. The Devils regained the lead when Hurdes drove home an assist from Igor Petrovic (Clifton, N.J./Clifton) with ten minutes to play.  Petrovic and Hurdes hooked up again, providing the game's decisive goal.

The hat trick for Hurdes gives him an impressive 15 goals on the season in only 11 games.

Petrovic now leads the Devils in assists with five. Both teams had 11 shots, while FDU held a 8-4 advantage in corner kicks.

Next up for the Devils:
