Box Score EWING, NJ - The College at Florham Devils had four different players score in double figures to knock off the College of New Jersey, 89-69, in non-conference action on Monday evening. Junior guard
Trevor Sykes finished with 24 points and six rebounds, senior guard
Mike Williamson came off the bench with 23 points, junior forward
Will Green tallied 14 points and 12 rebounds, and freshman guard
Nick Acito added 13 points.
With the win, the Devils improved to 5-7 while the Lions dropped to 3-10.
The Lions were leading by a score 9-8 with 5:07 gone by in the first half when FDU went on a 16-7 run to grab a 24-16 advantage with 9:31 to go. Sykes was on fire during the run, scoring 13 of FDU's 16 points. After TCNJ cut it to 24-21 two minutes later, the Devils reeled off a 15-2 run to take a 39-23 lead with 1:34 remaining. It was Williamson's turn to lead a run, as he poured in eight points in the burst. The Lions scored the final three points of the half though, to cut the FDU lead to 39-26 heading into the break.
FDU came out with the purpose of putting the game away in the second half, as the Devils methodically built up their lead until they grabbed a 29-point lead, 83-54, with 3:14 to go in the game. The closest TCNJ came in the last eight minutes of the game was 18 points, 62-44, but FDU immediately got their lead back into the twenties and put the Lions away.
Williamson also had four rebounds and four assists to go along with his 23 points while senior forward
Derek Hall notched seven points, eight rebounds and five assists.
The Devils return to action on Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at Manhattanville beginning at 8 pm.
