Box Score JERSEY CITY, NJ - The College at Florham Devils scored 56 first half points on their way to a 94-63 win over New Jersey City in non-conference action on Monday evening. FDU had five different players score in double figures, led by 22 points from sophomore guard
Leigh-Ann Lively.
With the win, the Devils improved to 8-1 and are now off to the best start in school history. The loss dropped the Gothic Knights to 3-6.
As they have for the past seven games, the Devils got off to an extremely fast start by exploding for a 30-7 run to open the game. After NJCU cut it to 30-11 with 9:49 remaining in the first half, FDU reeled off a 26-14 run to grab a 56-25 lead with 1:02 to go. Jersey City scored the final five points of the half to make it 56-30 heading into the break.
It was more of the same in the second half as NJCU got no closer than 20 points, 64-44 with 13:43 to go, as the Devils cruised to the 31-point victory.
There were a lot of highlights for FDU in what was maybe the most balanced effort of the season. Aside from her 22 points, Lively also had six rebounds while junior guard
Jalessa Lewis recorded 17 points, seven assists, five rebounds, and four steals. Sophomore guard
Kara Dayon notched 15 points, eight rebounds and four steals, sophomore forward
Kyra Dayon tallied 12 points, five assists, five steals and four rebounds, and freshman center
Rachel Groom notched 10 points and five rebounds.
The Devils return to action on Saturday, December 29, 2012, at CCNY beginning at 3 pm.
