Devils Downed By William Paterson In Season Finale, 26-6

Box Score MADISON, NJ - Sophomore running back Isaac Jlaka carried 14 times for 124 yards and two touchdowns to lead William Paterson to a 26-6 win over the College at Florham Devils in the 2012 season finale for both teams on Friday evening.

With the loss, the Devils finish the campaign with a record of 2-8 while the Pioneers improved to 5-5.

FDU won the toss and took the ball, which proved to be a wise decision as the Devils marched 65 yards in eight plays to take a 6-0 lead on a seven-yard touchdown run by senior running back Jon Bennett.  Bennett ran for 18 yards in the drive while senior running back Frank Trivigno caught a 24-yard pass out of the backfield.  Freshman running back Craig Kimbrough had two eight-yard receptions while also running for eight yards.

The Pioneers came right back though, going 70 yards in seven plays capped by a four-yard touchdown run by Jlaka to take a 7-6 lead with 6:49 remaining in the first quarter.  FDU was on the move again on their next possession, moving all the way down to the William Paterson 20-yard line before turning the ball over on downs.

Neither team got much going in the second quarter until the Pioneers got the ball at their own 48-yard line with 5:57 to go in the half.  William Paterson then proceeded to drive 50 yards in 16 plays to grab a 10-6 advantage on a 19-yard field goal by sophomore kicker Robert Sinegra with 0:06 to play.

On their first series of the third quarter, the Devils got the ball on their own 48-yard line but two personal fouls in one play moved the ball all the way to the William Paterson 22-yard line.  FDU lost four yards though and tried a 43-yard field goal that came up just short to keep the score at 10-6.  The Devils moved the ball deep inside Pioneer territory on their next two possession but an interception and a fumble stalled both drives to keep the deficit at four.  The Pioneers capitalized with 1:04 to go in the third quarter when Jlaka burst up the middle for a 68-yard touchdown run to make the score 17-6 in favor of William Paterson.

The Pioneers grabbed a 20-6 edge at the 9:15 mark when Sinegra connected on a 47-yard field goal attempt and William Paterson sealed the victory with 1:07 to go in the contest as freshman running back Darius Kersey took it in from 25 yards out to reach the final score of 26-6.

Bennett led the Devils on Senior Night with 14 carries for 88 yards and a touchdown while catching two passes for 35 yards.  Kimbrough added 14 rushes for 81 yards and three receptions for 14 yards.  Freshman quarterback Anthony Ognibene went 8-of-14 for 62 yards and an interception.  As they did all season, junior linebacker Mike Mancino and senior linebacker Charlie Thomas led FDU in tackles with 10 and eight, respectively.  Freshman linebacker Ryan Rodriguez added three tackles and a sack.
