VIRGINIA BEACH, VA - The College at Florham Devils split four games at the Virginia Wesleyan Tournament on Friday and Saturday afternoons. The Devils knocked off Hollins and Benedictine before losing to McMurray and Virginia Wesleyan.
With the split, the Devils are now 3-3 on the season.
MCMURRAY - FDU fell in four sets to McMurray (25-21, 25-23, 23-25, 25-23). Junior outside hitter
Chelsea Hoeffler finishd with 12 kills and 12 digs while junior setter
Nicole Weissert added 28 assists and 14 digs. Freshman outside hitter
Momi Mariani had nine kills and 23 digs while senior libero
Marta Matera added 19 digs.
HOLLINS - The Devils knocked off Hollins in four sets (25-4, 22-25, 25-19, 25-22). Hoeffler tallied 11 kills, Weissert notched 28 assists, Mariani finished with 21 digs, and Matera added 14 digs. Freshman setter
Riley Brewer ended the match with 11 asssist and 15 digs.
BENEDICTINE - FDU beat Benedictine in three sets (25-18, 25-23, 25-17). Mariani finished with eight kills and 15 digs, Matera notched 20 digs, Brewer had nine assists and eight digs, and Weissert tallied 24 assists.
VIRGINIA WESLEYAN - The Devils fell in four sets to the host of the tournament (25-13, 13-25, 25-13, 25-20). Mariani finished with 12 kills and 23 digs, Matera had 22 digs, Weissert recorded 17 assists, and Brewer added 11 assists.
The Devils return to action on Wednesday, September 7, 2011, with their home opener against Scranton beginning at 7 pm.
