Devils Go 3-1 At Messiah Quad Match

GRANTHAM, PA - The College at Florham Devils finished with a 3-1 record at the Messiah Quad Match this weekend.  FDU knocked off Roanoke, Penn State Harrisburg and Catholic before losing to Messiah.  Senior libero Marta Matera and junior outside hitter Chelsea Hoeffler were named to the All-Tournament Team.

With the three wins, the Devils finished the regular season with a record of 28-7.

ROANOKE - FDU won their opening match by a score of 3-1 (22-25, 25-21, 25-21, 25-22).  Freshman right side Andrea Peters led the way with 12 kills while junior setter Nicole Weissert finished with 26 digs.  Matera had 24 digs, freshman outside hitter Momi Mariani notched 16 digs and Hoeffler tallied 14 digs.

PENN STATE HARRISBURG - The Devils took their second match by a count of 3-0 (25-12, 25-13, 25-13).  Sophomore middle hitter Helena Riede had eight kills while Mariani added six kills and 11 digs.  Weissert recorded 11 assists, freshman setter Riley Brewer had 17 assists, and Matera notched 12 digs.

MESSIAH - FDU was knocked off by the host school by a score of 3-2 (15-25, 25-17, 25-22, 28-30, 15-13).  Mariani had 15 kills and 17 digs, Hoeffler had 13 kills and 16 digs, while Riede and Peters each had 10 digs.  Weissert tallied 43 assists and 15 digs while Matera recorded 21 digs.

CATHOLIC - The Devils won their final match of the tournament by a score of 3-2 (16-25, 25-20, 23-25, 25-18, 15-8).  Hoeffler had a monster effort with 19 kills and 23 digs while Mariani added 15 kills and 23 digs.  Peters finished with 12 kills, Weissert had 26 assists and 14 digs, Brewer recorded 17 assists and 10 digs, Matera notched 23 digs, and senior defender Jackie Kressaty had 16 digs.

The Devils return to action on Wednesday, November 2, 2011, in the Semifinals of the Freedom Conference Tournament when the third-seeded Devils travel to faced second-seeded DeSales beginning at 7 pm.
