MADISON, NJ - The College at Florham Devils beat Hunter, 3-0 (25-13, 25-22, 25-21), and lost to Stevens, 3-1 (23-25, 25-19, 25-19, 25-9), in the 2010 season opener for all three teams on Wednesday evening.
With the split, the Devils now stand at 1-1.
STEVENS - Senior middle hitter
Lauren Brazier (Stony Brook, NY/Ward Melville) led the way with 12 kills and four blocks while senior setter
Kerry Kuperman (Scottsdale, AZ/Chaparral) and sophomore setter
Nicole Weissert (Bay Shore, NY/Bay Shore) each had 14 assists. Junior libero
Marta Matera (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) finished with 18 digs.
HUNTER - Brazier once again led the way, this time with nine kills, while Kuperman added 19 assists. Matera notched 13 digs, freshman right side
Jenna Cowie (Longmont, CO/Longmont) tallied seven kills, and sophomore outside hitter
Chelsea Hoeffler (Cranford, NJ/Cranford) recorded eight digs.
The Devils return to action on Friday, September 3, 2010, in the NYU Tournament against the US Coast Guard Academy at 2 pm, SUNY Brockport at 4 pm, and NYU-Poly at 8 pm.
