MADISON, NJ - Senior goalkeeper
Kevin Herbert (Whippany, NJ/Whippany Park) was outstanding in net, making seven saves, to lead the College at Florham Devils to a 2-0 victory over Manhattanville in Freedom Conference action on Wednesday evening. The win puts FDU one step closer to qualifying for the upcoming Freedom Conference Tournament.
With the win, the Devils improved to 9-5-1 (3-1-1 Freedom) while the Valiants dropped to 8-5-1 (2-2-1 Freedom).
The Devils got on the board at the 27:23 mark when Manhattanville goalkeeper committed a foul in his own box and on the restart, sophomore midfielder
Nick Maccarrone (Garfield, NJ/Paramus Catholic) converted a pass from junior midfielder
Emin Matezic (Bronx, NY/Manhattan CC). FDU scored their second goal much the same way, as the goalkeeper again fouled but this time sophomore midfielder
Josh Corpuz (Randolph, NJ/Randolph) knocked home a penalty shot. That was more than enough for Herbert as he kept the Valiants off the board, allowing the Devils to pick up the much needed win.
The Devils return to action on Saturday, October 23, 2010, at Misericordia beginning at 3:30 pm.
