WILKES-BARRE, PA - The College at Florham Devils were beaten by King's, 1-0, in the Freedom Conference opener for both teams on Saturday evening.
With the loss, the Devils dropped to 5-5 (0-1 Freedom) while the Monarchs improved to 7-4 (1-0 Freedom).
The lone goal of the game came just 12:11 into the contest when the Monarchs found the back of the net on a header. Each squad had a few opportunities to score, in FDU's case, or score again, in the case of King's, but both defenses were tough all night. The Monarchs held a 14-7 advantage in shots and an 8-4 edge in corner kicks.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Tim Kirk (Pompton Lakes, NJ/Pompton Lakes) suffered the loss, making five saves.
The Devils return to action on Wednesday, October 6, 2010, at home against Berkeley College beginning at 3:30 pm.
