TOWSON, MD - The College at Florham Devils won the 2010 Goucher Tournament that was held on Friday night and Saturday afternoon. On Friday, the Devils beat Lancaster Bible, 3-1 (25-15, 23-25, 25-17, 25-23), and Goucher, 3-0 (25-20, 25-17, 26-24), while on Saturday the Devils knocked off Marymount, 3-1 (25-25, 25-15, 19-25, 25-21), and Stevenson, 3-1 (12-25, 25-11, 25-22, 25-20).
With the sweep, the Devils now stand at 22-6 on the season.
LANCASTER BIBLE - Sophomore outside hitter
Chelsea Hoeffler (Cranford, NJ/Cranford) led the way with 11 kills and 13 digs while senior setter
Kerry Kuperman (Scottsdale, AZ/Chaparral) added 24 assists. Sophomore setter
Nicole Weissert (Bay Shore, NY/Bay Shore) tallied 11 assists and junior defender
Jackie Kressaty (Rutherford, NJ/Rutherford) finished with 14 digs.
GOUCHER - Sophomore middle hitter
Lisa Barenzano (Levittown, NY/Island Trees) paced FDU with 10 kills while Kuperman had 22 assists and 11 digs. Hoeffler notched 16 digs and junior libero
Marta Matera (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) added 11 digs.
MARYMOUNT - Hoeffler was strong once again for the Devils with 13 kills and 26 assists while Kuperman finished with 22 assists and 11 digs. Matera tallied 12 digs.
STEVENSON - Hoeffler finished her outstanding tournament with 12 kills and 14 digs while Kuperman recorded 31 assists. Matera had 11 digs, Kressaty added 10 digs and senior defender
Marcie Schlanger (New City, NY/Clarkstown South) had 13 digs.
The Devils return to action on Wednesday, October 13, 2010, at home for Senior Day against DeSales beginning at 7 pm.
