Senior forward Danielle Michlovsky (Wind Gap, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) had 26 points, nine rebounds and six steals to lead the College at Florham Devils to a season-opening 68-43 win over Medgar Evers in the First Round of the John K. Adams Rutgers-Newark Tip-Off Tournament on Sunday afternoon.
With the win, the Devils improved to 1-0 on the season and will advance to the tournament finals to play Rutgers-Newark.
The Devils jumped out to a 14-0 lead with 6:30 gone by in the first half, thanks to nine points from Michlovsky, before extending to a 38-17 halftime advantage. It was more of the same in the second half as the closest the Cougars would cut the FDU lead was to 15 points, 53-38, with 4:50 left in the contest.
Senior guard Courtney Young (Bayonne, NJ/Bayonne) finished with 11 points and five assists while junior forward Shealyn Taggart (Atlantic Highlands, NJ/Middletown South) totaled 11 points and four steals. Sophomore forward Matil Mangual (Westbury, NY/Clark) added eight points and 11 rebounds.
The Devils return to action on Monday, November 16, 2009, against Rutgers-Newark beginning at 8 pm.
