Devils Blanked At Gallaudet Tournament

WASHINGTON, DC - The College at Florham Devils went 0-4 at the Gallaudet Tournament on Friday and Saturday, losing to McDaniel, Dallas, Gallaudet and Catholic.

With the losses, the Devils dropped to 14-12.

MCDANIEL - The Devils were downed in five games (16-25, 25-15, 25-17, 25-27, 15-13).  Sophomore outside hitter Katlyn Mullane (San Antonio, TX/Warren) had 11 kills and 19 digs while junior middle hitter Lauren Brazier (Stony Brook, NY/Ward Melville) had 13 kills.  Freshman setter Nicole Weissert (Bay Shore, NY/Bay Shore) finished with 45 assists and 12 digs, sophomore libero Marta Matera (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) had 24 digs, and junior defensive specialist Rachel Highley (New Holland, PA/Garden Spot) had 13 digs.

DALLAS - FDU was knocked off in four games (25-20, 27-25, 13-25, 25-17).  Brazier had nine kills while Weissert had 33 assists.  Matera had 21 digs, Highley added 13 digs and Mullane finished with eight kills and 15 digs.

GALLAUDET - The Devils were beaten in three games (25-9, 25-16, 25-19).  Weissert had eight assist and seven digs while Mullane had five kills and eight digs.

CATHOLIC - FDU dropped another match in five games (22-25, 29-27, 14-25, 25-20, 15-10).  Brazier led the way with 15 kills while junior outside hitter Patty Manhart (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) had 11 kills and 15 digs.  Senior right side Meghan Droge (North Merrick, NY/Kellenberg) had 10 digs, sophomore right side Sabrina Barone (Montvale, NJ/Pascack Hills) had 10 kills, junior setter Marcie Schlanger (New City, NY/Clarkstown South) had 25 assists, Weissert had 23 assists and 12 digs, Matera finished with 39 digs, Highley had 17 digs, and Mullane added 20 digs.

The Devils return to action on Wednedsay, October 14, 2009, at DeSales beginning at 7 pm.
