CAREER WRITE-UP
Pat Scarpello enters his 22st season at the helm of the Devils men's lacrosse program in 2023. Scarpello is the longest tenured head coach in the program's history and in August 2018, Scarpello was named the Associate Athletic Director for Facilities and Operations.

Post Covid-19, Scarpello led the men's lacrosse program to a record of 11-22 during the 2021-23 seasons. In April of the 2023 season, he coached his squad to the program's first MAC Freedom appearance since 2017.

From 2012-2020, Scarpello led the Devils to the postseason four times and won seven or more games five times. During that stretch, Scarpello coached 33 MAC Freedom All-Conference selections, two IMLCA All-region selections, one USILA Honorable mention player and one All-ECAC selection.

Both the 2010 and 2011 Devils finished the year with 11 wins and a berth in the MAC Freedom tournament. The 2010 season was highlighted by MAC Rookie of the Year, Brian Gill and eight All-Conference selections, the most during one season in Scarpello’s tenure. Three players were selected to the All-Conference Second team after the 2011 campaign.  

In 2009, Scarpello led the Devils to the MAC Freedom Regular Season title and Tournament Championship, marking the programs third ever NCAA Tournament appearance. That was the first time since 1981 that the men's lacrosse program won both the regular season and tournament championship in the same year. That season saw the Devils finish 13-5, garnering multiple postseason accolades, including the MAC Freedom Player of the Year, Alex Kajencki, four First Team All-MAC Freedom selections and one Second Team All-MAC Freedom selection.

After taking over the program in 2002, Scarpello led FDU to 11 straight postseason appearances, including six straight seasons of eight or more wins from 2002-2007. Thirteen times in his 19 seasons at the helm of the Devils, FDU has finished with eight or more wins.

During the summer of 2018, Scarpello was the Head Coach for Team Bermuda in the World Lacrosse Games. He previously served as their Assistant Coach in 2010 and 2014.

Scarpello is also the US Lacrosse men's collegiate representative of the New Jersey chapter, is on the USLIA All-American selection committee and has served as a Site Supervisor for the NCAA Tournament.
