Scott Sperone

Scott Sperone enters his sixth season as the Defensive Coordinator at FDU-Florham.

His first season with the Devils was highlighted by linebacker Steve Hoverson being named First Team All-Middle Atlantic Conference after leading the MAC with nine sacks.  Sperone has served as the Recruiting Coordinator and Strength & Conditioning Coordinator for the football program while also being an Assistant Coach for the tennis program, Shot Clock Operator for the Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams, Assistant Advisor for SAAC and Strength & Conditioning Coach for the field hockey program.  He is also teaches classes in the Physical Education Department and the First Year Experience Program.  

Sperone spent the three seasons as the Defensive Coordinator at Merrimack.  In 2010, his defense produced two All-Americans who eventually earn NFL camp invites in 2012 (Shawn Loiseau - Texans, Tony Johnson -Ravens).  In 2009, Merrimack won the Northeast 10 Championship with a 7-3 record.  In 2008, his defense ranked third in the nation in sacks while he also tutored a defensive back to All-American honors. 

Prior to Merrimack, Sperone was the running backs coach at Brown University in 2006 and 2007.  In 2005, he coached two All-Conference wide receivers at Williams College and also served as an Assistant Coach with the swimming and softball programs.

A Physical Education major and a 2001 graduate of Springfield College, he has also coached at Stonehill College, Springfield College (NCAA Tournament in 2002 and 2003), and King's College (2001 ECAC Southeast Champions).  He earned his master's degree in Athletic Administration from Springfield in May of 2004.  While at Springfield, Sperone played safety from 1997 to 2000.

He currently resides in Madison with his wife Meaghan.
