Luke Maginnis is set for his second season with the FDU-Florham football team and will serve as the team’s outside linebackers coach for the 2017 season after previously serving as the tight ends coach last season.

As tight ends coach last season, Maginnis coached John Pellegrini, a Second Team All-MAC selection as a freshman. Pellegrini led all tight ends in the conference with 45 catches, 538 yards and five scores.

In 2015, Maginnis served as the linebacker coach at Smyrna High School in Delaware, where the team won a state championship. Prior to entering the coaching ranks, he played four seasons at Wesley College in Dover, Del.
 
While at Wesley, Maginnis helped anchor the Wolverines’ defense as a three-year starter at linebacker. In his four seasons at Wesley, he tallied 175 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, five interceptions, six pass breakups and a sack. Additionally he earned Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Player of the Week honors and helped lead the team to two NCAA Final Four appearance and two NCAA Quarterfinal Round trips.
A New Jersey native, Maginnis played his high school football at Warren Hills High School in Washington, N.J.
