Anthony VanCuren

Anthony Van Curen enters his second season as the Devils' Defensive Line Coach. 
 
A graduate of St. John Fisher College (Rochester, N.Y.) in the spring of 2012 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Sport Management with a minor in Pre-Law.  He was a four-year linebacker, long snapper and special teams player for the Cardinals.  During his time at Fisher, the Cardinals compiled a 33-12 record, won the 2008 ECAC Northeast Championship Bowl, the 2009 & 2010 ECAC Northwest Bowl and were the 2010 Empire 8 Co-Champions.  In 2011, the Cardinals received a bid to play in the NCAA DIII Football Championships, making it to the quarterfinals and finishing the season ranked #11 in the D3football.com Final Poll.
 
After graduating from Fisher, he accepted a position with the Prudential Center and Devils Arena Entertainment in Newark, NJ as the Arena’s Conversions Manager.  He was able to work on many sports and entertainment events such as the 2012 Stanley Cup Finals, Super Bowl XLVIII Media Day, the NBA Draft, NHL Draft, numerous concerts, Seton Hall Basketball and New Jersey Devils games.  While working full time at the Arena, he returned to his high school alma mater as an Assistant Football Coach.  He was responsible for coaching the linebackers and wide Receivers.  In 2013, he helped guide the program to their second Section IX Title in school history.
 
A native of Goshen, N.Y., he attended John S. Burke Catholic High School in Goshen.  A two-sport athlete in baseball and football, he was a three-year varsity starter at linebacker and a three-year starter on the baseball team.  He was also a two-year captain on the baseball team and captain of the football team his senior year.  He helped the football team win their first ever section title. In his senior year, he was named to the Section IX First Team Defense and the NYSSWA All State Third Team Defense.  He holds the school records for most tackles in a season (133) and most tackles in a career (301).
