Alshermond Singleton is a retired Super Bowl winning NFL Linebacker. Having had a successful 10-year career with the NFL, Al is the proud winner of Super Bowl 37 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Al has successfully transitioned into other entrepreneurial endeavors including owning and operating a Dry Cleaning Franchise in Morris County, New Jersey and Coaching Football for the past 7 years. Currently, he is the Defensive Line Coach at Fairleigh Dickinson University.
Alshermond is a native of Irvington, New Jersey. He was educated in the Irvington Public School system. Starting his football activities in the 8th grade, by high school he was captain of the Irvington H.S. Football team. During high school, he was awarded All Area, All County, and All State football honors. He also received the award for Super Prep All American, and Athlete of the year resulting in a full scholarship to Temple University. At Temple, he was Football Captain, Team MVP, All Big East, and the Eastern Athletic College Conference All American. He graduated Temple with a B.A in Sports Recreation Management.
In 1997, Al was drafted to The Tampa Bay Buccaneers as a strong side outside Linebacker. He was coached under the toot ledge of Tony Dungy. During his 6 years with the Buccaneers, he won the Super Bowl 37 championship alongside Warren Sapp, Derrick Brooks, & Shelton Quarles. His additional accolades include NFL All Rookie Team, and Special Teams captain. He became known for stopping the run and rushing the passer. Intern, this created interceptions resulting in touchdowns. After the Super Bowl, Al moved to one of the most coveted teams in the NFL, “America’s Team” the Dallas Cowboys. There, he spent 4 years with famed coach Bill Parcells. Al was known as a versatile player who stepped in to become a stable cog on the Dallas defense.
Alshermond has lent his knowledge and expertise throughout the years as a Keynote Speaker at many functions. He continued to gain education by attending NFL Business Management and Entrepreneurial Programs at the infamous Wharton School of Business, along with being part of the NFL Retired Players Association.
Alshermond stays very involved with the community. He has donated to various charities, and community organizations specifically in New Jersey, Florida, and Texas. This includes sending high school academic leading students to college under The Al Singleton Scholarship Fund. He has also been granted the Irvington, NJ “Key to the City.”
