Men's Soccer Draws with USMMA

MADISON, N.J. – The FDU-Florham men's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw against USMMA Sunday afternoon at home for its second consecutive draw. 

DEVILS HIGHLIGHTS HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Sunday's match between the Devils and Mariners was a low scoring affair as neither team found the back of the net in the first half. 
  • The Mariners outshot the Devils 11-3 in the first half, but the two teams went into the break in scoreless tie.
  • In the second half Chauhan flicked a pass to Ferreira on a free kick who on one touch sent it back to Chauhan who unloaded from 25 yards out and found the upper left of the Mariners net.
  • Then just under 3:00 later, the Mariners' Justice Jackson took a shot that ricochetted off the right post and to Robert Derwin who netted his shot and tied the match at 1-1. 
  • The matched remained 1-1 through the final 27:00 and the Devils came away with their second straight draw. 
GAME NOTES
  • Seven of FDU's 11 starters played all 90 minutes
  • Sunday's match was Battista's second match in a row with four saves. 
UP NEXT
The Devils return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 9 at 4 p.m. as FDU hosts Saint Elizabeth.
