Football Falls 38-8 in Season Opener at St. John Fisher

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The FDU-Florham football team dropped its season opening game 38-8 to St. John Fisher Saturday afternoon on the road.

DEVILS HIGHLIGHTS
  • Graduate transfer Nazir Smith went 11-for-18 in completions, throwing for 104 yards and one touchdown. 
  • Freshman Na'zeer Whittaker was the lone touchdown scorer for the Devils in his collegiate debut. 
  • Graduate transfer Nahjee Adams rushed 20 times for 37 yards to lead the Devils' backfield. 
  • Junior Jarelle Taylor led the receiving core with five receptions for 41 yards and a long of 19. 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • It was all Cardinals in the 2026 FDU-Florham football season opener. St. John Fisher scored first with just under 4:00 left in the first quarter and after the PAT, held a 7-0 lead. 
  • In the second, the Cardinals tacked on another touchdown but after a perfect punt to the St. John Fisher one-yard line, the Devils scored two on a safety to make it a 14-2 game. 
  • After two more touchdowns from the Cardinals, the Devils trailed 28-2 at the break. 
  • The third saw no scoring action, but in the fourth, FDU got on the board again with a seven-yard completion from Smith to Whittaker for the Devils first TD of the season. 
GAME NOTES UP NEXT
FDU returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 12 as the Devils take on Albright in their home opener. Kick-off is set for noon.
