WEEHAWKEN, N.J. – The FDU-Florham softball team dropped its final regular season doubleheader Friday afternoon on the road as the Devils fell to Stevens 8-0 in Game 1 and then 1-0 in Game 2.
DEVILS HIGHLIGHTS (Game 1)
HOW IT HAPPENED
- It was all Ducks in this one as Stevens took a 1-0 lead in the first and added runs in both the third and the fourth innings.
- In the fifth, the Ducks tacked on four more to make it 8-0 and enact the eight after five rule.
DEVILS HIGHLIGHTS (Game 2)
- Signor had both hits for the Devils including a double.
- Grifone turned in a fantastic start as she went six innings allowing just one run on six hits with five strikeouts.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The game's lone run in the fifth inning when Stevens' Allison Mitloff hit a one-out triple to left and later scored on a fielder's choice from Carmelita Murphy-Brown.
- One run was all Ducks starter Kyra Fischer needed as she tossed seven shutout innings for Stevens.
UP NEXT
The Devils finished the regular season in second place in the MAC Freedom and now await their opponent in the MAC Freedom Championship tournament.
