Softball Sweeps DeSales on Senior Day Behind Walk-Off Homer from Lambright

MADISON, N.J. – The FDU-Florham softball team swept its doubleheader against DeSales University Saturday afternoon at home taking Game 1 3-1 and Game 2 7-5 on the back of a walk-off two-run home run from Jada Lambright

DEVILS HIGHLIGHTS (Game 1)
  • Mollie Reece went 2-for-3 with one RBI
  • Riley Signor went 1-for-2 with a double and one RBI.
  • Giana Abinanti tossed a complete game five-hitter as she allowed just one unearned run with two walks and two punch outs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • In the bottom of the first, Signor doubled home Jada Lambright for the game's first run.
  • In the second, Reece singled home Victoria Fantozzi after she led off the inning with a single.
  • Later in the second, a botched double play by the Bulldogs defense led to Alison Wysocki coming around to score to extend the FDU lead to 3-0.
  • The Bulldogs scored their only run of the game in the fourth after an RBI-single from Paige Hromin plated Kiara Castera, but that was all the DeSales offense could muster against Abinanti.
DEVILS HIGHLIGHTS (Game 2)
  • Lambright went 2-for-3 with a walk-off two-run homer, a double and four RBI.
  • Signor homered and drove in two runs.
  • Grace Capparelli went 1-for-3 with a double and one RBI
  • Sydney Grifone threw a complete game as she allowed five runs on 10 hits and struck out five Bulldogs hitters.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • It was all Devils early on in Game 2 as Capparelli doubled home Hailey Wodecki in the bottom of the second to put FDU ahead 1-0.
  • In the third, Signor parked one over the left field fence to extend the Devils' lead to 3-0.
  • Then, in the fifth, Lambright doubled home both Olear and Reece to extend the lead to a commanding 5-0.
  • The Bulldogs did the opposite of lie down and roll over as DeSales scored three in the sixth on a bases clearing triple from Katie Sharkey to make it a 5-4 game.
  • In the seventh, DeSales made it a 5-5 ballgame on an RBI-double from Shana Gugliandolo.
  • But in the bottom half, Lambright socked her two-run walk-off home run to give the Devils the doubleheader sweep.
GAME NOTES
  • Lambright's walk-off homer was the first walk-off for the Devils this season.
  • Game 2's walk-off home run was the first walk-off homer for the Devils since April 25, 2013, in a 7-4 win over NJCU.
  • The Devils have now secured a spot in the 2026 MAC Freedom Championship tournament.
