CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – The FDU-Florham baseball team swiped a game from the conference leading Bulldogs in the series finale Saturday afternoon.
Game One:
Devils Highlights
- Senior Parker Muratore had a solid Game One, going 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
- Junior Peter Longo fueled the Devils' offense, going 1-for-4 with a grand slam, four RBI and one run scored.
- Junior John Rolli continued to stay hot, going 1-for-3 with a double, one RBI and two runs scored.
- Senior Nick Rizos shined on the mound in Game One, throwing the complete seven inning game while only giving up two runs on six hits.
How It Happened
- After the Bulldogs scored their only two runs of the game in the bottom of the first inning, the Devils took control of the game. Sophomore Xavier Diaz started the scoring in the top of the third inning by bringing in junior Jake Knapp via a hit-by-pitch. With the bases loaded, Longo sends a shot to left field to record the Devils' first grand slam of the year. By the end of the third inning, the team had a commanding 5-2 lead.
- With both offenses reaching a stalemate, Rizos dominated on the mound to keep the lead intact. He managed to hold the Bulldogs to just three hits and one walk through the rest of the game. In the top of the seventh, the Devils would add some insurance runs to put the Bulldogs to rest. RBI from Rolli and first year Andrew Parisi extended the lead to 8-2 and in the bottom of the frame, Rizos closed the door and earned his third win of the year.
Game Two:
Devils Highlights
- Sophomore Matthew Bond led the offense in Game Two, going 1-for-3 with a triple and one run scored.
- First year Andrew Parisi continued his solid day at the plate, going 1-for-3 with a single.
- First year Christian Zamrok had the lone RBI for the Devils in the top of the second inning.
How It Happened
- The offense would strike first in Game Two, taking an early lead against the Bulldogs. After a leadoff triple from Bond, Zamrok sends a sac fly to right field and make the game 1-0. Unfortunately, the bats would go cold for the team after this inning and they would not have any other scoring opportunities in the game.
Game Notes
- Eight players recorded hits today, with only Muratore having a multi-hit game in Game One.
- With Rizos going the distance in Game One, this is back-to-back games in which he has thrown a complete game for the team (King's (Pa.) 4/11/26).
