Softball Sweeps King's on the Road

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The FDU-Florham softball team swept its double header against MAC Freedom foe King's College on the road as the Devils took Game 1 1-0 followed by a 9-6 win in Game 2. 
 
DEVILS HIGHLIGHTS (Game 1) HOW IT HAPPENED
  • In the top of the third, the Devils scored the only run of the game when Fantozzi scored on a Monarchs' error. 
  • That was all Abinanti needed as she faced just two batters over the minimum to earn her seventh win of the season. 
DEVILS HIGHLIGHTS (Game 2)
  • Jada Lambright finished Game 2 3-for-3 with a double three RBI and one run scored. 
  • Signor also went 3-for-4 with a home run. 
  • Reece, Hailey Wodecki, and Grace Capparelli each finished with two hits. 
  • Sydney Grifone earned her eighth win of the season with three innings of work as she allowed just one hit with two strikeouts. 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • It was all Devils early on in Game 2 as Wodecki plated Reece with and RBI-single to right center to give FDU a 1-0 lead. 
  • In the fourth, a Lambright double pushed across Giulia Olear for the game's second run followed by a two-run homer from Signor to make it a 4-0 Devils lead. 
  • In the bottom half, the Monarchs pushed across their first run of the game on an RBI-single from Meghan Marianelli to cut it to a 4-1 Devils' lead. 
  • FDU extended its lead in the fifth with four runs as Alison Wysocki singled home Kylee Berg followed by a sac fly from Olear and another double from Lambright to push across two more runs and make it a 9-1 FDU edge. 
  • In the seventh, King's managed to push across four runs themselves to make it a 9-6 ballgame, but that was all the Monarchs managed against Abinanti in relief. 
GAME NOTES
  • Lambright has hit one double in six of the last seven games. 
  • FDU has now won five MAC Freedom games in a row.  
UP NEXT
FDU returns to action on Tuesday, April 14 as the Devils take on the Manhattanville University Valiants. First pitch of Game 1 is set for 3 p.m.
