Softball Splits Doubleheader with Misericordia

DALLAS, Pa. – The FDU-Florham softball team split its doubleheader against Misericordia University Sunday afternoon on the road as the Devils fell 8-4 in Game 1 but came back and took Game 2 7-3. 
 
DEVILS HIGHLIGHTS (Game 1) HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Devils got on the board first on a sac fly from Signor that scored Reece to put FDU up 1-0. 
  • In the second, Mis knotted the game at 1-1 on a bases loaded walk from Giana Abinanti. 
  • The Cougars took a 2-1 lead after a fielder's choice but in the third, the Devils used a steal of home from Reece and another sac fly from Signor to take a 3-2 lead. 
  • The Cougars then scored seven unanswered runs to take an 8-3 lead.
  • Despite an RBI-single from Signor to cut the deficit to 8-4, Misericordia took Game 1 8-4. 
DEVILS HIGHLIGHTS (Game 2)
  • Signor led the way in Game 2 with a 3-for-4 game and two more RBI.
  • Lambright and Victoria Fantozzi each tallied a three-hit game. 
  • Hailey Wodecki went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. 
  • Grifone went four innings and allowed only three runs on four hits with five strikeouts. 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Cougars got on the board first in Game 2 on an RBI-single from Casey Funseti to make it a 1-0 game. 
  • In the second, the Devils took a 2-1 lead after RBIs from Fantozzi and Abigail Rodriguez. 
  • A run in the third and then two runs in the fourth from Alison Wysocki and Reece put FDU up 5-1. 
  • In the fifth, Signor doubled home Lambright and later scored on a Wodecki RBI-single to help ice the game for the Devils and split the day's doubleheader. 
 
UP NEXT
The Devils return to action on Wednesday, March 25 as FDU hosts St. Joseph's University Long Island. First pitch of Game 1 is set for 3 p.m.
