MADISON, N.J. – The FDU-Florham baseball team took on the Cougars at home for the first two games of their conference series Saturday afternoon.
Game One:
Devils Highlights
- Junior John Rolli had a productive Game One, going 1-for-2 with a walk and a run scored.
- Sophomore Xavier Diaz helped fuel the offense, going 1-for-3 with a double and one RBI.
- First year Christian Zamrok also led the offense in Game One, going 1-for-3 with one RBI.
- First year CJ Bates kept the Devils in the game out of the pen, throwing two innings while allowing no runs and no hits.
How It Happened
- After the Cougars scored in the top of the first inning on a passed ball, the Devils answered right back in the bottom of the frame. Following a single off the bat of Rolli, Diaz immediately drove him home with an RBI double down the left field line to tie the game at 1-1.
- The offense once again answered the call in the bottom of the second inning, starting the inning strong with a single off the bat of senior Ryan Johnston. After loading the bases, Zamrok drove in Johnston with an RBI ground out to the first baseman to make the game 2-2.
Game Two:
Devils Highlights
- Sophmore Xavier Diaz continued his solid day at the plate, going 1-for-1 with a solo homerun, one RBI and two runs scored.
- First year Andrew Parisi went 1-for-1 in Game Two, hitting a double in the bottom of the seventh inning.
- Seniors Nicholas Colbert and Ryan Johnston both helped lead the offense in Game Two, each going 1-for-3 with a single.
How It Happened
- The Devils started their scoring in Game Two in the bottom of the second inning. After a leadoff walk from Diaz, junior Peter Longo delivered an RBI ground out to second base to score Diaz and make the game 8-1.
- The offense scored one more time, this time in the bottom of the fourth inning. On the first pitch he saw, Diaz rifled a solo homerun to right field and cut the deficit down to 8-2 going into the fifth inning.
Game Notes
- Seven players recorded a hit today, with two players recording extra base hits.

The Devils look to finish their final series game against the Cougars with a trip to Dallas, Pa on Sunday, March 22 at 2 p.m.
