Rolli Plays Hero as Baseball Splits Doubleheader with Arcadia

MADISON, N.J. – The FDU-Florham baseball team win their first conference game of the season in walk-off fashion as they split their doubleheader with the Knights.

Game One:
Devils Highlights
  • First year Christian Zamrok led the offense in Game One, going 1-for-3 with a triple, one RBI, and one run scored.
  • First year Noah Fiorillo helped boost the team, going 1-for-3 with one run scored.
  • Junior Tommy Sica also had a solid Game One, going 1-for-2 with one run scored and two stolen bases.
  • First year Brayden Rakov kept the Devils in the game in the later innings, throwing 2 2/3 scoreless innings and only giving up one hit.
How It Happened
  • The Devils would get right down to business in the bottom of the first as they started the scoring for the day. After two consecutive walks to Sica and junior John Rolli, two passed balls allowed Sica to score and give the team a 1-0 lead.
  • After a scoreless second inning, a grand slam from Knights catcher Peter Trendafilov would capitalize a five run third inning that put Arcadia on top 5-1.
  • The offense would strike back in the bottom of the sixth inning as they brought the deficit down to 8-3. RBI from Zamrok and senior Ryan Johnston helped keep the Devils in the game as they went into the seventh inning.
  • Despite Rakov's solid work out of the pen, the Devils unfortunately couldn't put it together and finished the game down 8-3.

Game Two:
Devils Highlights
  • Sophomore Xavier Diaz continues his hot hitting in Game Two, going 3-for-3 with three RBI and two runs scored.
  • First year Noah Fiorillo had a successful second game, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run scored.
  • Junior John Rolli delivered the game winning hit in Game Two, going 3-for-5 with a double, one RBI and three runs scored.
  • Senior Nick Rizos had a solid outing for the team, going 6 1/3 innings giving up three earned runs and striking out four.
How It Happened
  • In the top of the first inning, the Devils found themselves in a 1-0 deficit after a leadoff throwing error sets up an RBI single for the Knights. The offense quickly answered back with an RBI single off the bat of Diaz to even the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the frame.
  • The team would take the lead in the bottom of the third inning, this time with a two-run single off the bat of Diaz to put the Devils up 3-1. Arcadia would go on to score one run in both the fourth and the fifth inning to tie the game up at 3-3.
  • Starting with a double off the bat of first year Christian Zamrok, the offense would cash in a big inning in the bottom of the fifth. RBI from Fiorillo and junior Cody Miller put the team in the driver's seat with a 6-3 lead.
  • In the top of the seventh inning, the Knights put together a four-run inning to retake the lead 7-6. In the bottom of the inning, RBI from Fiorillo and senior Parker Muratore gave the Devils the edge once again with a score of 8-7. By the end of the eighth inning, the game was knotted at 9-9.
  • After a leadoff single to start the ninth, the Knights went down in order to senior Jake Stollar as the game headed into the bottom of the ninth. After Arcadia loaded the bases with one out, Rolli laced a line drive single over the second baseman's head to score Muratore and walk it off for the Devils.

Game Notes
  • Eight players registered hits in today's doubleheader, with five players having multi-hit days.
  • With a walk off in Game Two, the Devils have now produced two walk offs this season (2/21/26 against Drew).
