MONTCLAIR, N.J. – The FDU-Florham baseball team drops their first road game of the year, losing by a score of 12-8 against the Red Hawks.
 
Devils Highlights

• Sophomore Matthew Bond led the offense against the Red Hawks, going 3-for-5 with an inside the park home run, three RBI and two runs scored.
• Junior Peter Longo had a productive day himself, going 2-for-5 with two RBI and one run scored.
• First year Christian Zamrok had a multi-hit day as well, going 2-for-5 with two singles.
• Sophomore Xavier Diaz continued his nine-game hitting streak today, going 1-4 with one RBI and one run scored.

How It Happened

• After giving up five runs through three innings, the Devils' offense finally jumped into action in the fourth. An inside the park home run off the bat of Bond scored first year Noah Fiorillo as the Devils cut deficit down to 5-2.
• The team would finally take the lead in the top of the fifth after putting together six runs to make the game 8-7. The offense put together five hits and capitalized on costly errors from the Red Hawks to fuel their comeback. RBI from senior Zach Ganca, junior Tommy Sica, Diaz, Bond, and Longo put the Devils in the driver seat as they headed into the second half of the game.
• Unfortunately, the Red Hawks would go on to score five unanswered runs in the bottom of the fifth and seventh innings, making the game 12-8. Junior Evan Sabo stopped the bleeding for the Devils, throwing 1 1/3 scoreless innings out of the pen.

Game Notes

• Seven players registered a hit against Montclair State, with three players having multi-hit days.
